Chicken Shawarma, juicy and crispy!

Chicken Shawarma Thighs

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken thighs
  • 4 cloves of garlic, pureed
  • Zest and juice of one lemon
  • Generous amount of salt and pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons paprika or smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 2 tablespoons yogurt
  • Additional spices of your choice

Cooking Steps:

  1. Prepare Marinade: In a bowl, combine the pureed garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, pepper, chili powder, turmeric, paprika, allspice, yogurt, and any additional spices you desire. Mix everything together until well combined.

  2. Marinate Chicken: Place the chicken thighs in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let the chicken marinate for at least 1 hour, but preferably overnight for maximum flavor.

  3. Cooking: Preheat your air fryer to 175-180°C. Place the marinated chicken thighs in the air fryer basket, making sure to line it to contain any juices. Cook the chicken for 15 minutes, turning them over halfway through.

  4. Final Crunch: About 5 minutes before the chicken is done, slice it into pieces and return them to the air fryer. Increase the temperature to 200°C and cook for an additional 7-10 minutes to achieve crispy perfection.

  5. Serve: Once cooked, serve the churchy yet so moist chicken thighs with salad, flatbreads, and a delicious creamy sauce. Don't forget the chips for a satisfying meal!
