Crispy Air-Fried Green Tomatoes
A crunchy, golden take on the classic Southern dish—effortless and delicious, straight from the air fryer.
Serves 2-4
Ingredients
- 2 large green tomatoes
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp smoked paprika (or your preferred spice blend)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko works best)
- Oil spray
- Red relish or your favorite dipping sauce, to serve

Prep the Tomatoes – Slice the tomatoes into ½-inch thick rounds for even cooking.

Coating Process
- In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
- Dip each slice into the seasoned flour, shaking off excess.
- Coat in beaten egg, ensuring full coverage.
- Press into breadcrumbs, coating evenly for a crisp finish.

Air Frying
- Preheat the air fryer to 190°C (375°F).
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil.
- Arrange tomato slices in a single layer, without overlapping.
- Spritz the tops with a little more oil.

Cooking Time
- Air fry at 190°C (375°F) for 5 minutes.
- Flip, spritz with oil, and increase the temperature to 200°C (400°F).
- Cook for another 5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Serving
- Serve hot with a side of red relish or your favorite dipping sauce.
